Paperwork at West Kent College
|
Today we discovered the different groups we would be working in for the presentation day video. I am the director in a group with Emily (editor) and Ester (Cameraperson). We did some work and looked at the past presentation day videos to get inspiration.

Paperwork at West Kent College

Debbie gave us some different subjects at different colleges to research. This is to help when we are filming these courses.

Filming at West Kent College
|
Today we filmed for the first time. My group was asked to go and collect footage from around the college, which can be used and integrated to break up the subjects in the final video. Ester was filming as she was the camera woman, but the footage was poor. I then logged the footage after with Ester.

Filming at West Kent College

Today my group went and filmed some of the level 2 catering students. The footage we collected wasn’t overly great, when we went back and reviewed the footage. We then went and filmed the chemistry students working on experiments, where I took control of some of the filming.

Filming at Hadlow + Outbuildings
|
We went to one of the Hadlow outbuildings to film them and their students. We filmed the reptiles and some of the outside animals. Afterwards we were picked up and taken to the main Hadlow sight. We filmed some of the theory lessons as well as the horses. We got back late so didn’t have time to log the footage that night.

Filming at Outbuildings
|
Tim, Regan and I went to film the students at Greenwich college who do a lot of horse care. The campus was small, so we couldn’t get a lot of footage. I do think we found good enough content to make into a good video though.

Attempted Filming
|
We tried to film hair and beauty at West Kent college, however we went on the wrong day which meant there were no students.

Editing the footage
|
We got told which videos we would be editing, and I oversee the West Kent video. This meant I must go through the West Kent footage and decide which was the best. A lot of the footage collected wasn’t great which means it has to be filmed again. I began to do some of the scheduling for the video. This was the first time I got to see some of the footage and it doesn’t look good. A lot of the content is very poor and would look very bad for the college if it was included.

Filming at West Kent College

In the morning, I went with JJ to film the music students in the college. There were two different bands that we saw, both played in different ways. We got plenty of footage of both bands. In the afternoon, I went to hair and beauty again to film the student there with Tim. They didn’t have many students there so I collected as much footage as I could but there was little variation of the shots. We then went back the classroom and logged the footage.

Filming at West Kent College
|
Today I filmed the establishing shots of West Kent again with Jake and Tim. This was because the footage from before wasn’t very good. The footage we did get meant the whole video would flow together better. I logged the footage when I got back. Tim had done some sequencing before college so I continued with that for the rest of the day.

Editing the footage
|
This was the first day of putting the sequences together. Although Emily was meant to be doing editing on the final project, she didn’t offer to do it, but I also didn’t want her to mess it up. I began putting the footage together and it was all going well. There were a few finishing touches that I am going to come in and complete on Wednesday.

Editing the footage
|
I finished the editing except for the fashion part of the college, which is really annoying. The man from the marketing department came down to have a look at the video so far and wanted more of the West Kent logos at the beginning. I included a cool graphic at the beginning so that the logo was the first thing people saw. There were also a few other small things that had to be changed.2

Filming at West Kent College

Me and Reece filmed the Fashion and textile students at the front of the college. The students weren’t doing anything exciting. This meant the footage was quite boring and hard to include. Afterwards I put the footage into the final video which wasn’t simple as the footage kept changing.
